Mark 5:20
And he departed,
and began to publish in Decapolis
how great things Jesus had done for him:
and all men did marvel.
In our day there is a great emphasis on missions and evangelism.
This is understandable, because people in many nations are becoming more and more alienated from God and His service.
That this is why emphasis is placed on mission and evangelism, I do not consider this wrong. As long as it happens in the sense described in this text. That man had something to tell in the land of the Decapolis.
For he was allowed to tell not only that he had been delivered by Jesus from unclean spirits, but also what great things the Lord had done to his soul.
So he proclaimed the great deeds of the Lord.
Not he himself was the center, but the Lord Jesus and his work were in the center. When our mission and evangelism is done in this way, it will be a work pleasing to God, because the root of the matter is there.
May the Lord grant that we too have something to say.
For His glory and for the benefit of our neighbors.
