Occasionally you may also come across a funeral procession.
Before everyone used to stop by the side of the road in reverence for him or her being taken to his or her final resting place.
Touching!
A person is buried there.
Maybe that man was a big strong guy, perfectly healthy, until… until suddenly, quite unexpectedly, he was visited by death!
From day one, God has warned people.
He told Adam and Eve: “You must not eat any fruit from the tree that gives knowledge of good and evil. If you do eat fruit from that tree, you will certainly die” (Genesis 2:17).
But we have not believed the Lord on His Word, but we chose to believe God’s opponent, Satan, for he said, “No, you will not die. God knows that when you eat the fruit from this tree, you will understand things. You will become like God himself. You will know about good things and evil things.” (Genesis 3:4-5)
The consequences are terrible: “It is set for man to die once, and then judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). Nobody can escape that!
Do not say that that this was just to blame on Adam and Eve.
You to have a choice. You too have to decide whom you will believe…
Also today God’s warning still sounds over the earth saying: repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. (Matthew 3:2)
Satan tells you this is nonsense, but Jesus warns you again: I tell you, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (Luke 13:3,5)
Jesus came for you and for me to call us to repentance. He said so Himself: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance (Luke 5:32).
The first man to die was Abel. Beaten to death by jealousy, by his brother Cain.
Do you know how the name ‘Abel’ could be explained? “Breath, nothingness, vanity”! A striking name, don’t you think? That’s what we are all called! For without God, without the Christ we are nothing!
Our life, the Bible says, is short lived. We live only for a short moment!
For you are a vapor that appears for a short time and then disappears (James 4:14)
Thank God there has been One Who has conquered death and the grave!
He too has been killed, beaten to the cross by soldiers. In fact He was hammered to that ugly cross by us, by our sins.
No it was not fate, not bad luck that this happened to Him. It was the way He voluntarily went, to gain life for everyone who believes (including you) !
