▪︎ Where did this all come from?
▪︎ Did someone make it?
▪︎ Or did it just happen?
▪︎ What are we?
▪︎ Where are we going in life?
Listen to this!
Psalms 8:1,3-9
¹O Lord, our Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth, Who have displayed Your splendor above the heavens!
³When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained;
⁴What is man that You take thought of him, And the son of man that You care for him?
⁵Yet You have made him a little lower than God, And You crown him with glory and majesty!
⁶You make him to rule over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, ⁷all sheep and oxen, And also the beasts of the field, ⁸the birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea, Whatever passes through the paths of the seas.
⁹O Lord, our Lord, How majestic is Your name in all the earth!
Oh yes, this is true!
God’s greatness is seen in all the world!
When we look at the sky why which He has made, at the moon and the stars which He set in their places… Than what is mankind that He still thinks of us? A mere man that He takes care for him?
Yet He has made us just inferior to Himself, and crowned us with glory and honour, and made us ruler over all He has made, and placed us over all things. The Lord’s greatness really is seen in all the world!
Psalms 90:1-2
¹Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.
Have faith in God the mountains were born, or You gave birth to the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.
Yes, our Lord has always been our home, far before the hills were created, far before He brought the world into being, He was already the eternal God, without beginning or end.
Creation reveals:
God’s power
Romans 1:20
For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made.
Ever since God created the world, His invisible qualities, both His eternal power, and His divine nature, have been clearly visible; they are perceived in the things that He has made.
The Gospel reveals:
God’s mercy
Romans 1:17
For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “But the righteous man shall live by faith.”
The Gospel shows us how God puts people right with Himself. From beginning to end, it is true faith. As the scripture say that the person who is put right with God, through faith, shall live.
God’s anger
Romans 1:18
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness, and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness.
God’s anger is revealed from heaven against all the sin and evil of the people whose evil ways prevent the truth from being known. God punishes them, because what can be known about God, is plain to them, for God himself made it plain.
God’s kindness
Romans 2:4-5
⁴Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?
⁵But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,
Perhaps you despise His great kindness, tolerance, and patience.
For sure you know that God is kind, because He is still trying to lead you to repentance. But you have a hard and stubborn heart, and by ignoring His call to repentance, you are making your punishment even greater on the day when God’s anger, and righteous judgement, will be revealed.
God’s justice
Romans 2:6-8
⁶God will render to each person according to his deeds: ⁷to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life; ⁸but to those who are selfishly ambitious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation.
At the final judgment God will reward every person according to what he has done. Some people keep on doing good, and seek glory, honour, and immortal life; to them God will give eternal life.
Note that eternal life cannot be earned by doing good deeds.
▪︎ You should not be doing good deeds to be saved, and to receive eternal life.
▪︎ But because you are saved, and you already have the promise of the eternal life, you keep seeking God’s glory and honour, and do good deeds.
