Ecclesiastes 5:12-15
¹²The sleep of the working man is pleasant, whether he eats little or much; but the full stomach of the rich man does not allow him to sleep.
¹³There is a grievous evil which I have seen under the sun: riches being hoarded by their owner to his hurt. ¹⁴When those riches were lost through a bad investment and he had fathered a son, then there was nothing to support him. ¹⁵As he had come naked from his mother’s womb, so will he return as he came. He will take nothing from the fruit of his labor that he can carry in his hand.
Although working was instituted for mankind by God, and God blessed it, it was not meant that man should just gather lots of riches for himself, but that he would be a blessing to others.
Jesus said in John 5:17
My Father is working until now, and I Myself am working.
God Himself was working ever since He created heaven and the earth. And likewise Jesus was working.
Not to gather riches for Himself, but to be a blessing to others.
An example for you to follow.
You too should put your abilities to work, in order to bless others.
2 Corinthians 8:9
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.
God has riches for you available, and He wants you to receive it.
▪︎ But this is not the kind of riches that gives you sleepless nights.
▪︎ It is also not the kind of riches that you will have to leave behind when you die.
▪︎ But the kind you have stored up in heaven.
▪︎ The kind that has eternal value.
You should have the right understanding of what riches, wealth, and health really is.
▪︎ In the eyes of mankind you may be seen as poor, while God sees you as rich in Him.
▪︎ In the eyes of mankind you may be seen as weak and sickly, while God sees you as healthy and strong.
▪︎ In the eyes of mankind you may be seen as a nobody, while satan worries about your continual attacks on him.
You too should use your time profitably, by maintaining your relationship with God and by being kind to others.
▪︎ Remember that you, as well as the wealth and riches God has given you, belong to Him.
▪︎ Remember that you, as well as the wealth and riches God has given you, are in His hands.
At least, when you really belong to God, have been bought by the Blood of Jesus, and accepted the invitation to follow Him.
Don’t look for earthly possessions or riches.
Now, at this moment, people may see your big house, your expensive car, your fancy clothes, and think you are rich.
But in reality, in the end, when you die, you will appear to be poor, for you will have to leave it all behind.
Revelation 3:17
You say, “I am rich, and have become wealthy, and have need of nothing,” and you do not know that you are wretched and miserable and poor and blind and naked.
