Psalms 130:5-6
⁵I wait for the Lord, my soul does wait, And in His word do I hope. ⁶My soul waits for the Lord More than the watchmen for the morning; Indeed, more than the watchmen for the morning.
Waiting is one of the things where most of us have to go through. For me personally waiting is a very hard process, specially when you have to wait for years for something. Sometimes we have to wait so long before doors will open, but rest assured, God will never arrive too late.
Once in a church they promised me something and 10 years later I was still waiting, and when I mentioned it after those 10 years the answer was “Being impatient is not a good attitude for a Christian brother, just be patient”.
As I said, waiting is a hard lesson on me. I’m more the kind of person who likes to get things done quickly.
Sometimes I don’t understand why the Lord seems to pause all processes, and I think I’m not alone in this, but I have learned that when I ran ahead of the Lord, it did not come to good results.
Yes I too have been impatient. Thinking that 20 years waiting was long enough I started something, and by doing that, I walked ahead of the Lord.
And so I had to learn a lesson, that not I, but the Lord is in control, and that not I, but He is the One who determines when what will be done.
Also in the Bible we see enough examples of persons who had to wait for years, or had to get years of experience before they could be used for the task that God had for them.
Think of Abraham and Sarah who after a son was promised to them still had to wait for twenty-five years before receiving Isaac.
Also Joseph, Moses, David, Hannah, and Jesus had to wait on God at some point in their lives, to receive a promise, or to become who God had ordained them to be.
Dear friends,
I’m sure that waiting is not only hard on me, but that it sometimes also can be hard, painful, or uncomfortable, to you. Still, waiting is sometimes exactly what you and I have to do, to progress, receive the promise, or to become who God has ordained us to be.
If I may give you an advice: use your time of waiting, to read and meditate on the Word of God, to pray, to build a close relationship with God, and always give God the honor and glory that belongs to Him.
God’s plans will never fail.
