- When you are allowed to attend your Governor’s Birthday Dinner, you wear your nicest clothes, you dress up as if you are the owner of a big company.
- But when you attend a service in Church, planning to have a meeting with the King of kings, you dress like you are going to work at the city dump.
WELL DONE !
- When you are going on a holiday, or on a business trip, and you know the flight will leave at 11:00 h, you’re asked to be 2 hours before leaving at the airport, and you’ll probably be leaving home at least an hour earlier to be on time.
- But when you are going to church and the service starts at 10:00, you will walk in after the the meeting already started.
WELL DONE !
- When you have an appointment at town hall at 11:00 h, you arrive there by 10:00 h, and wait at the reception till 13.00 h, without anybody giving you any attention. Yet, you won’t complain.
- But when you are joining in with church activities, and have a meeting with your department at 16:00 h, you arrive late at 16:30 h, and after finding out that the meeting has not yet started, you complain heaven and earth, and threaten never to give attention to such meetings again.
WELL DONE !
- When you go to an embassy to get a visa for a certain country, and you’re given instructions on where to sit, and where not to, you will obey their instructions strictly. No matter if the person telling you is much younger than you, or maybe less qualified than you are, you will do whatever they ask you.
- But when you attend Church and ushers direct you to a seat where to sit, you act as if they are not there, or if they were talking to a cadaver.
WELL DONE !
If you act like this, you show that you have much more reverence for human status and institutions, than for God and for His Kingdom!
God has to be instantly ready for you, every time you need Him, but when God asks you something in His word, you have numerous excuses.
When you face some problem, or run into some trouble, you think your case is an emergency and God should jump up from His throne and start running around, to solve it for you.
You may even tell everyone, that you URGENTLY need divine intervention. You put your Pastor under severe pressure, because he has to be constantly ready to pray for you. Ofcourse you cannot pray yourself, for you have your personnel for that.
You keep screaming “FATHER, FATHER, MY CASE IS URGENT!!!”
Are you thinking that God is your slave, who has to perform His miracles on your command? Or that He is a puppet without eyes and ears, so He can be laid away and picked up when you want?
Tell me, if His presence has no URGENCY to you, why should your CASE be URGENT to Him?
Who’s in control? You or Him?
May you learn to put God first before anything else.
