Yes, what do you still believe in?
▪︎ A clean environment?
▪︎ Arms control?
▪︎ A fair distribution of incomePM and resources?
▪︎ The good in people?
▪︎ A political upheaval?
▪︎ Or maybe only in yourself?
Whom do we trust, and what do we build on?
Every day again?
These are questions that make us think, and maybe even lead us to a change of course!
▪︎ Could Jesus be a factor for you, that you can take into account?
▪︎ Could Jesus be someone for you, that you can really trust?
▪︎ Can people still believe in Jesus today?
I would say: Yes! Especially at this time!
Because where do we find security and guidance?
▪︎ The political, economic and social systems can be compared to quicksand.
▪︎ Leaders turn out to be unreliable time and again
▪︎ And humanity is in danger of being destroyed by its own “creations”.
Love and trust have almost become exceptions.
You can only trust Him, Who is in control and Who wants to influence it for the better. That’s Jesus, the Messiah!
Believing in Him is not primarily a matter of our understanding, but of our will.
The point is that we trust Him so that we put the direction of our lives in His hands and leave it to Him.
Believe in God, how do you do that?
That is a good question!
Do you perhaps have to keep a whole row of rules for that, all of which seem equally non sensical?
A young woman once said, “It looks like I’m getting a bunch of straw to eat.”
What do you have to do for it?
To begin with, you don’t have to do anything at all!
You have to let Jesus do it!
That’s the point.
We don’t have to do anything, Jesus wants to do it.
In fact, He has already done everything necessary!
He works for us and in us.
The Bible says, “Those who receive Him and believe on Him have the right of Him to become children of God.” (John 1:12)
Ask Jesus if He wants to solve the problems of your life.
Allow Him to the essentials of your life:
E.g. your family members, your prejudices, your feelings of hatred, the wrong decisions in the past, and the paths you have taken. Your selfishness, jealousy, pride, greed … Yes, everything the bible calls sin.
Sin?
“That is an incomprehensible and outdated word.
Can’t anyone do anything with that ”?
I often hear this argument.
Excuse me, but I think that’s a bit stupid.
Who among you knows exactly the composition and effect of carbon monoxide or sulfur dioxide? Whether we know the composition or not, when we breathe in this stuff, it kills us.
Sin can be compared to that “stuff” that destroys our lives.
We have left God and are choosing our own way.
As a result, our life has lost its inner connection and foundation. Murder, hatred, jealousy, lies, greed, etc. are the consequences of the break with God.
You must give the Lord Jesus access to this core problem.
And then? After that, can you solve the problems of your life yourself with a Jesus ideology? No, only Jesus does that.
When we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive our sins (1 John 1: 9).
You can clean up your life alone or with someone together, “unpack” everything and tell Jesus. He will keep his promise; forgive you; take away your inner burden to give you confidence and joy in doing so.
Believe means:
I accept what Jesus wants to give me.
(He has given Himself for you, and He expects you to give yourself to Him)
This acceptance takes place the moment you thank Him for it:
“I thank You Lord that You died and rose again for me and that You have forgiven all my sins!”
It can be compared to a gift. When I want it, I have to receive it.
One thing we must remember: We do not get forgiveness of sin through some kind of outpatient “treatment” like a one-time surrender, or a one-time prayer.
Only when we put our lives completely in Jesus’ hands we will experience concrete help and changes in our lives.
It says, “He who receives Him …..”
It doesn’t say, “Whoever says goodbye to Him and then goes away.”
Believe means:
“Lord, I want to follow You wherever You go. Your will will be final. I trust You.”
Many people object to such a decision.
But who can we trust as unconditionally as Jesus?
He died for us when we had no interest in Him at all. He has proven that He wants nothing for himself, but everything for us!
