1 Thessalonians 1:5 NASB
Our gospel did not come to you in word only,
but also in power and in the Holy Spirit
and with full conviction;
just as you know what kind of men we proved to be
among you for your sake.
Other translations
King James Version
For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.
Devotional
The Kingdom of God is full of possibilities, thus limitation is unacceptable. We serve an infinite God who is limitless in all things.
Matthew 19:26
And looking at them Jesus said to them,
“With people this is impossible,
but with God all things are possible.”
When He delivered the gospel to us, it wasn’t in word only but also in power, in the Holy Spirit, and in much assurance. Thus we are not to limit ourselves to the Word of God only; we need to demonstrate it in the power of God for the audience to know that the gospel works.
We also have to allow the Holy Spirit to lead us so the Word we preach can convict many and lead to their repentance.
Dear friends, if you preach the gospel in word, power, the Holy Spirit, and deep conviction, countless testimonies will be the resulting effect.
Let us not limit ourselves or the work of God, because He has so much to accomplish through us.
Prayer suggestion
▪︎ Thank the Lord for opening your eyes that you too can testify of Him and preach the gospel through your words and actions, under leadership of the Holy Spirit.
