Ecclesiastes 2:15 NASB
Then I said to myself,
“As is the fate of the fool, it will also befall me.
Why then have I been extremely wise?”
So I said to myself, “This too is vanity.”
Other translations
King James Version
Then said I in my heart, As it happeneth to the fool, so it happeneth even to me; and why was I then more wise? Then I said in my heart, that this also is vanity.
Devotional
God is good, and He is the giver of good things.
Wisdom comes from Him, and He gave King Solomon so much wisdom that no king could be compared to him in his day.
However, in the course of time, he allowed idolatrous women to steal his undivided devotion to God. Soon he drifted away from God and suffered from an untimely death.
He is the only king in history to have married seven hundred women, having three hundred concubines besides (1 Kings 11:3).
Dear friends, be wise toward God, and never allow anything to come between you and your devotion to God.
Be heaven conscious; never allow earthly things to dominate your mind and heart (Colossians 3:1–2).
When you are God conscious and heaven conscious, you will be wise till the end.
Prayer suggestion
▪︎ Ask God to warn you when you’re drifting away from Him so that you can come back to Him.
