1 John 3:11
For this is the message which you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another;
The proclamation we heard from the beginning is that we should love one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in this one Word, “Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.”
That love does not naturally dwell in us. There is still some natural love through God’s general goodness.
• Love between man and woman.
• Love between parents and children.
▪︎But this love is temporary and human.
▪︎She passes soon, but in any case ends in death.
▪︎She sometimes turns into hatred when we are seriously wronged.
But the love that John means is from God.
It flows from the love of God.
It is a fountain of life springing up in us unto eternal life.
That is a love even for enemies.
That is a love to the children of God in particular.
A love in which we may experience the communion of saints. Because we have one heart and one soul to seek and know the Lord.
Do you already know something about that love?
Beg for it!
She’s in Christ.
It flows into your heart through the Spirit and renews your life.
That love never dies.
