1 Corinthians 15:8-10
⁸and last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me also.
⁹For I am the least of the apostles, and not fit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
¹⁰But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me did not prove vain; but I labored even more than all of them, yet not I, but the grace of God with me.
When a mother gives birth to a baby that is far from full grown, it is called a miscarriage. In today’s Bible passage that is called: an untimely birth.
Such a premature baby dies immediately.
Paul must think of that.
Last of all, he also saw the risen Savior himself.
On the road to Damascus, remember? He was not yet a believer then. Even a great enemy of Jesus! But through that encounter with the Savior, he becomes a persecutor, a follower!
When Paul compares himself with all those others who were sought out by Jesus, the King, the Risen One, he is deeply astonished.
They were disciples, followers of Him, not me.
I was called into the service of Jesus, without first having been a disciple.
How is it possible!
I wasn’t ready at all.
No more than an immature child is ready to be born.
That is how strong the Lord Jesus is.
He turns enemies into friends.
Even today!
“Great is Thy power, Thy faithfulness shall never fail!”
