The kingdom of heaven is like
a treasure hidden in the field,
which a man found and hid again;
and from joy over it he goes
and sells everything that he has,
and buys that field.

In our minds we see a man working in the field. He crosses the field with the plowshare.
Who’s to say how many footsteps he’s already set in that field.
One day, when he is turning the earth with his pickaxe, he uncovers a treasure.
He has found a treasure.
He hadn’t looked for it.
Just like that, while he is busy with his work, he stumbles upon a treasure.
It was a surprising find for this man.
How beautiful this is in the parable of the kingdom of heaven.
It must be said of the finding of the heavenly treasures what is said in Isaiah 65:1:
I am found of them that inquired not of me;
I have been found of those who did not seek Me.
All God’s children repeat this after the Lord when it comes to the finding time in their lives.
Is it a coincidence then?
No, in God’s Kingdom nothing happens by chance.
The Lord brings to the field.
He also finds the treasure.
So He brought Lydia under the preaching of His Word.
There He made her find the treasure of salvation.
God’s guidance brings the sinner into the field of the Word and finds what has not been sought and sought after.
How many years have we been walking in the Gospel field without knowing that the treasure is under our feet?
