Matthew 26:2
Ye know that after two days
is [the feast] of the passover,
and the Son of man
is betrayed to be crucified.

And the Son of man shall be betrayed to be crucified
The time has come for the Christ to die.
He does not hide it from His own.
He is to be handed over and to be crucified.
He knows that it will come to that: to the death on the cross.
Nothing is hidden from Him from the way of suffering which He must go.
Even the end of that road in His own death.
He knows that He must hang on the cursed wood to take the curse away from a people who have deserved the curse forever.
Oh, the disciples must know that.
Not that they now understand the depths of it.
Now they have but a fleeting impression of His words.
This will show when He died.
But soon after His resurrection they will also remember these words.
▪︎Only then will they understand what His death on the cross meant.
▪︎Then the light will rise in their hearts about this prophecy.
▪︎Then the crucified Christ becomes so full of meaning.
▪︎Then their life lies in it, that He would hang for them on the tree of shame.
Has that already become your life?
He the curse, that ye might receive the blessing!
God’s Spirit sheds light on that for sinners, who, discovered to their guilt, need such a Surety.
