Matthew 4:19 NASB
And He said to them,
Follow Me,
and I will make you fishers of men.
Devotional
Today we read how two fishermen were called by the Savior to follow Him. It was said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Everyone is a destroyer by nature.
Man seeks his own downfall, and the downfall of others.
Only the Almighty can work a change. He turns enemies into followers. Some He makes fishers of men.
Simon and Andrew would need a lot of education to do this.
Their ability would be not of themselves, but of God.
A fish in nature does not want to be caught. So it is spiritually. Fallen man is an enemy of grace. It takes zeal, perseverance and prayer from the fishermen of people.
We know from the parable of the fishing net that there are good and bad fish in the net.
Those who are professing the Christ in name only, fake followers, and all actors shall be cast out.
Good fish often fear to be bad fish.
The evil fish doesn’t mind.
The Lord will one day perfectly justly judge each person.
There will also be good fish.
The Lord intended to use fishers of men for this purpose.
