Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord.
Devotional
A sacrifice is a ritual through which the Hebrew people offered the blood or the flesh of an animal to God as a “substitute payment” for their sin.
Sacrifice and sacrificing originated in the Garden of Eden immediately following the Fall of man.
The era of sacrificing animals to God is now past because of the supreme sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary.
Hebrews 9:28
So Christ also,
having been offered once
to bear the sins of many,
will appear a second time for salvation
without reference to sin,
to those who eagerly await Him.
There are sacrifices that God wants us to offer to Him instead.
The opening scripture mentions one of them.
Our act of righteousness is a sacrifice we render to God.
Treat people with kindness and be good to them; doing His will, will increase your trust in God, and He will be close to you and bless you.
Sin, on the other hand, is a sacrifice to the devil, and he will destroy you in no time.
Be mindful to live in righteousness.
