Can we pray for money?
A question that rises now and then, specially when we are short of money.
BUT is it really money that we need?
Or is money just that what we ask, to get our REAL NEED fulfilled?
I remember one day when we had nothing left to eat. We could have prayed for money to buy some food, but money was not our real need.
So we simply asked the Lord for SOMETHING TO EAT as there was no food left in the house.
After that the birds brought us a plastic bag with 2 loaves of bread ENOUGH for the whole weekend.
In this was a lesson for us to ASK WHAT WE REALLY NEEDED, and not to fill it in, but LEAVE IT TO THE LORD how He wants to help.
Further we read in Hebrews 13:5 that we have to make sure that our character is FREE FROM THE LOVE OF MONEY, being CONTENT with what we have; for He Himself has said, “I will NEVER desert you, nor will I EVER forsake you.”
I know from EXPERIENCE that following, and trusting Him blindly, is sometimes very hard.
So often I wanted to try to arrange things myself. And it may very well be that exactly that, was the reason why God had to bring me to a point where I COULD NOT DO ANYTHING MYSELF anymore, and I had to SURRENDER to Him COMPLETELY and leave it all in HIS hands.
Then, when I left it all in His hands, God moved, and helped us. FOR YEARS He used a loyal brother and PROVIDED the FOOD we needed for our family.
