Mark 09:24 AV
And straightway
the father of the child cried out,
and said with tears,
Lord, I believe;
help thou mine unbelief.
It is from one end to the other, from the transfiguration on the mountain to a father in need, with a son in misery.
The father had gone to Jesus with his child for help, but Jesus was not there, and the remaining disciples had been unable to do anything.
Do those heartbreaking scenes now have to go on and on?
Doubtfully, the father asks Jesus: can you do something?
Jesus turns the matter around: it is not about whether I can do anything.
Your child’s healing depends on something else, whether you can believe.
All things are possible to the one who believes!
I believe, Lord! But at the same time my disbelief plays tricks on me.
Will you help me in this?
I can’t make it myself …
Do you recognize that?
