Dear friends, though you may have much attention for what is happening around you, or in this world, and spend a lot of time on all kinds of earthly things, you should not forget your purpose in life.
▪︎ Remember that you are a special people,
▪︎ Remember that you are a holy nation
▪︎ Remember that you are a royal priesthood,
▪︎ Remember that you are a people given to God,
▪︎ And remember that you are all of this, so you may make clear the virtues of Him who took you out of the darkness into the light.
And now I do not mean the earthly darkness of the night, or the light of the sun, but the darkness that has its origin in hell and the heavenly light in which you may dwell now already. Yes you may now already walk in the light with Jesus.
▪︎ In the past you were all on your own, not a people, but now, since you repented and follow the Christ, you are the people of God;
▪︎ In the past, before you repented, and were following the Christ, there was no mercy for you, but now you belong to Him, mercy has been given to you.
Now you have received so much grace and mercy, I urge you not to join the worldly pleasures again, and to stay far from the desires of the flesh, for those desires make war against your soul and the Spirit.
1 Peter 2:9-11
⁹You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood,
a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession,
so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him
Who has called you out of darkness
into His marvelous light;
¹⁰for you once were not a people,
but now you are the people of God;
you had not received mercy,
but now you have received mercy.
¹¹Beloved, I urge you as aliens and strangers
to abstain from fleshly lusts which
wage war against the soul.
