Psalms 19:7-14
⁷The law of the Lord is perfect,
restoring the soul;
The testimony of the Lord is sure,
making wise the simple.
⁸The precepts of the Lord are right,
rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure,
enlightening the eyes.
⁹The fear of the Lord is clean,
enduring forever;
The judgments of the Lord are true;
they are righteous altogether.
¹⁰They are more desirable than gold,
yes, than much fine gold;
Sweeter also than honey
and the drippings of the honeycomb.
¹¹Moreover, by them Your servant is warned;
In keeping them there is great reward.
¹²Who can discern his errors?
Acquit me of hidden faults.
¹³Also keep back Your servant
from presumptuous sins;
Let them not rule over me;
Then I will be blameless,
and I shall be acquitted of great transgression.
¹⁴Let the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord,
my rock and my Redeemer.
Or:
⁷The law of the Lord is good, giving new life to the soul: the witness of the Lord is certain, giving wisdom to the foolish. ⁸The orders of the Lord are right, making glad the heart: the rule of the Lord is holy, giving light to the eyes. ⁹The fear of the Lord is clean, and has no end; the decisions of the Lord are true and full of righteousness. ¹⁰More to be desired are they than gold, even than much shining gold; sweeter than the dropping honey. ¹¹By them is your servant made conscious of danger, and in keeping them there is great reward. ¹²Who has full knowledge of his errors? make me clean from secret evil. ¹³Keep your servant back from sins of pride; let them not have rule over me: then will I be upright and free from great sin. ¹⁴Let the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart be pleasing in your eyes, O Lord, my strength and my salvation.
▪︎ Knowing the value of the word of God, knowing the word of God, and then doing what it says, puts you in a position where you are able to receive God’s blessings.
▪︎ When you do not know the word of God, and therefore do not do what it says, you are in a position where you are also not able to receive God’s blessings, because you have no relationship with Him
God has many blessings available to you, but…
▪︎ You may think you are in the right position to receive His blessings but you are not blessed. Maybe you know a lot of God’s word, but you didn’t put it into action. You read, you believed, but you didn’t do what it says. And so you are not obedient to the word, and God will not bless disobedience.
▪︎ You may be blessed, but you never recognized it as a blessing, because you, misled as you are by false teachers, were completely focused on earthly, material blessings.
In this Psalm we read that David found in the word of God that it is perfect and that it restores and refreshes the soul.
▪︎ God’s word it is reliable and trustworthy,
▪︎ God’s word makes the simple wise,
▪︎ God’s word is right,
▪︎ God’s word brings joy to the heart,
▪︎ God’s word is pure,
▪︎ God’s word enlightens the eyes, and the mind.
The Holy Scriptures are full of unlimited blessings for all those who belong to the Lord, follow Him and, do what He says.

▪︎ Value His word above anything else.
▪︎ And do what the Bible teaches you.

▪︎ Ask the Lord, to make you clean from secret evil.
▪︎ Ask the Lord, to keep you from pride.
▪︎ Ask the Lord, to let the words of your mouth and the thoughts of your heart to be pleasing in His eyes.
