Let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay:
for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.
Matthew 5:37 (KJV)
One of the things God has given us, when He created us, is the ability to communicate. We can use words, gestures, signs, etc., to communicate with one another.
Probably the communication we use most these days is chatting on the social media on internet. And many don’t take what they say on social media that seriously. As if speaking untruths on the internet doesn’t matter. But a lie is still a lie!
Jesus Christ wants us to be firm in decisions and utterances;
He wants our “yes” to mean “yes” and our “no” to mean “no.”
You should not use swearing to proof you speak the truth, for your “yes” should mean “yes” and your “no” should mean “no”. What goes beyond that is of evil.
Matthew 5:34-36
³⁴But I say to you, make no oath at all,
either by heaven, for it is the throne of God,
³⁵or by the earth, for it is the footstool of His feet,
or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King.
³⁶Nor shall you make an oath by your head,
for you cannot make one hair white or black.
May the Holy Spirit guide you to communicate honest and right, so you will also fulfill all righteousness with your words, and be a blessing to others.
