Song of Solomon 3:1
On my bed, night after night
I sought Him Whom my soul loves;
I sought Him but did not find Him.
Do you know that feeling?
▪︎ You want contact with the Christ,
but it seems you just can’t get in contact with Him.
▪︎ You are praying,
But it seems your prayers don’t go further than the sealing of your room.
▪︎ You want to read your Bible,
But somehow every time something else seems to come up.
▪︎ You do read your Bible,
But you just can’t keep your attention to what you are reading.
If this is you,
▪︎ you have somewhere left the narrow way
▪︎ you have on some moment stopped following Him
▪︎ and now, while you are walking on the broad road, and while you are on your way to destruction, you want, as an unholy person, to have contact with a holy God, as if you are still following the Savior.
This is impossible!
You will first have to repent, return to Jesus, return to the narrow road, and start following Him again!
When you tell me where you lost your contact with the Christ, where you left Him, I may be able to tell you the most likely place where you can find him, where He is waiting for you to return.
▪︎ Have you lost your contact with the Christ in your prayer closet, because you didn’t separate yourself anymore, to pray to Him?
Then it is there you must seek and find him.
▪︎ Did you lose your contact with the Christ by sin?
Then stop sinning, for you will find Christ in no other way but by the giving up of the sin, and seek by the Holy Spirit to kill the lust to sin in you.
▪︎ Did you lose your contact with the Christ by neglecting the Scriptures? Then you must find the Christ in the Scriptures.
It is a true proverb, “Look for a thing you lost where you dropped it, it is there.” So, in the same way look for the Christ where you left Him. He is still at the narrow way, waiting for you. He has not gone away.
Going back is not easy. You’ll have to go the whole way back that you walked on the broad way to the point where you can cross over to the narrow way. It is easier to walk 10 miles onward on the narrow way than 1 mile back on the broad way. (I hope you can understand this!)
Therefore take care, that when you find your Master, to cling close to him!
But how come you have lost Him?
One would think that you would never leave such a precious friend, whose presence is so sweet, whose words are so comforting, and whose company is so dear to you!
How come you did not follow Him closely?
How come you did not keep your eyes on Him?
Yet, since you have left Him, what an enormous mercy that you who are seeking him now, and groan, “I want to find him!” will be able to return to your previous glory.
Continue seeking, for it is dangerous to be without your Lord.
▪︎ For without the Christ you are like a sheep without its shepherd;
▪︎ Without the Christ you are like a tree without water at its roots;
▪︎ Without the Christ you are like a leaf in the tempest, not bound to the tree of life.
Therefore, seek Him with whole your heart, and you will find Him, and after that keep your eye of faith on Him continually and don’t lose Him again.
Matthew 7:7-8
⁷Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. ⁸For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
