Read: 2 Chronicles 28:1-4 and 22-25
Imagine reading on teletext that the police is asking for information about a man who burns his own sons alive, who is responsible for the deaths of 120,000 men and for the deportation, kidnapping of 200,000 women and children.
This message makes you think of a mass murderer and a war criminal.
And what else do you hear?
This man was well brought up and used to learn how to pray from his father.
Unbelievable! Indeed, this is unbelievable from Jotham’s son, Ahaz.
Ahaz rages like a beast.
Everything that reminds of father Jotham must be destroyed, especially everything that has to do with his father’s God.
The temple is closed, nothing is allowed to remind of the past when God was still served.
Ahaz has one goal in mind, his land must become the height of wickedness. Can Ahaz offend God worse than building altars to idols everywhere, in every city?
And you, who or what is your idol?
Return to the living God today!
