1 John 3:8
The one who practices sin is of the devil;
for the devil has sinned from the beginning.
The Son of God appeared for this purpose,
to destroy the works of the devil.
Again and again John views the incarnation of the Son of God from a different point of view.
The Son of God has come to this world to enter into a fierce battle with the devil and the works of the devil, sin. And so He came to destroy the works of the devil.
Devilish works, sins, are aimed at bringing down the government of God. To eclipse, to darken, the glory of God. What gruesome works when we come to see them in their true nature!
Attacks on the living God and His glory.
Now the Son of God came to destroy those works.
Eternally blessed be this Son of God.
That also means that He releases people from the grip of the evil one.
Have you already discovered yourself in that grip?
One has come to break that devil’s work.
We all were dead in sin, but by being born again we may now live in His Strength and Glory.
