Are you sure you are a follower of the Christ?
Are you sure you are a Christian?
Are you sure heaven is waiting for you if you continue living like you do now?
The Bible is like a mirror so let us take today a good long look in that mirror. I’m sure it will shock you as much as it did me. Let’s take the Bible now and let it tell us where we are right now.
In James 2:16-20 we read (16) If one of you says to them (the needy), “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled,” and yet you do not give them what is necessary for their body, what use is that? (17) Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.
So faith without works is useless. (vs. 20). But do you have works? Not works to earn a way into the Kingdom, for nobody can earn that for himself, it is a gift of grace; but works we do because we have faith, and because we are forgiven. Do you have that?
In John 14:15 Jesus says “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” Do you?
In Hebrews 12:14 the Bible teaches us that we have to Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord.
You must be holy, for God is holy, and if you are not being holy, you cannot see God. (It doesn’t say perfect but holy.)
Forgiving others is also a necessity.
Matthew 6:14-15 tells us:
(14) For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. (15) But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.
Do you forgive others? Do you forgive those who without reason harm or hurt you?
Not to earn something with it, but because you yourself have been forgiven so much.
In Galatians 5:24 we read that those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Have you? Or do you still have longings to things of this earth?
This also counts for the love of money. (Lk.14)
1 Corinthians 16:22 tells that if anyone does not love the Lord, he is to be accursed. Maranatha.
By the way Maranatha is actually not one word but two. It comes from the Greek μαραν αθα; maran atha; mar’-an ath’-ah; and is of Aramaic origin (meaning our Lord has come); maran-atha, is an exclamation of the approaching divine judgment.
This verse tells you that you have to love Him. You have to love Him a lot. In fact you have to love Him more than anything else. Do you?
If not? Than you are not saved!
Matthew 25:40 says ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ So in other words you have to really love people. And help the needy where you can. Do you?
Verse 46 adds to it that if you don’t you will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.
You need to love the truth as it says in
2 Thessalonians 2:10 … those who perish, … did not receive the love of the truth so as to be saved.
So in order to be saved you need to love the truth. Remember that Jesus also said “I am the truth”.
Matthew 18:3 says that we must be childlike “Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven.” Are you?
You must trust the Lord and believe him like little children.
And then James 1:26
If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless.
Do you control your speaking? Do you control what comes out of your mouth?
In Mark 13:13 you can read that you will be hated by all because of My name, but the one who endures to the end, he will be saved.
Are you? This is something we don’t look forward to. We rather feel loved, don’t we? But still this too is promised.
Now let’s look in 1 John 1:6-7 there we read that: (6) If we say that we have fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth; (7) but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
Jesus said in Luke 5:32 “I have not come to call the righteous but sinners to repentance.” And from Romans 3:23 we know this for all of us (23) for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. We therefore all need to repent of our sins and sin no more to stay in a good relationship with the Father.
Let us all hold fast to the faith and keep following Jesus so we can say in the end (2 Timothy 4:7) I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith.
Well so far the mirror I held up for you.
I’m sure that you all (just like me) have found some dirty spots on your garment which urgently need cleaning.
Now you have read this all, take a moment for prayer and confess to Jesus where you went wrong and ask for forgiveness. He is more than willing to lead you further over the narrow way to His Father’s house where He is preparing a place for all that follow Him.
