1 John 3:5
You know that He appeared
in order to take away sins;
and in Him there is no sin.
Who can ever do that for us, to take away our sins?
One has been revealed, One has taken on human nature, to do that work which had become utterly impossible for us. The Lord Jesus Christ.
His taking away of sins is that He takes away the guilt by bearing the penalty.
But our text also means that He breaks the power of sin by the working of the Spirit.
Let us not forget that that also is a fruit of His death. And it is no insignificant fruit!
Our sins – that heinous, that trampling of God’s justice and majesty.
Did you in self-condemnation learn to flee with it to Him to lose all that burden to Him? After all, if they are not, we will have to carry them ourselves, they will remain at our expense.
Confess what is for your peace!
