1 John 3:6
No one who abides in Him sins;
no one who sins has seen Him or knows Him.
Our text may be a bit difficult to understand.
▪︎Are God’s children, those who are in Christ, then without sin?
▪︎Are those who say that a Christian can become perfect on this side of the grave right?
How then can Paul say, “If I would do good, evil is with me.” and “the good that I will, I do not, but the evil that I do not will, that I do.”?
That’s right.
Whoever is in Christ and abides in Him has a hatred of sin, a constant struggle against sin.
▪︎Then you will no longer sin with pleasure.
▪︎Then you wish to be redeemed from sin.
He has been revealed to take away our sin.
Grafted into Him, we can no longer live in sin.
Therefore Paul might say, “I delight in the law of God after the inward man.”
Do you have that too?
Are you united to Christ?
The more intimate and tender that union is by the Holy Spirit, the more it will bear fruit in a sin-hating and God-glorifying life.
Then it remains a hunt here, a hunt for perfection. But then you will soon get your wish.
Delivered from a body of sin and death, to be like Him.
