1 John 3:2
Beloved, now we are children of God,
and it has not appeared as yet what we will be.
We know that when He appears, we will be like Him,
because we will see Him just as He is.
It’s a poignant word from the Old Testament, “Who shall see God and live?”
That is impossible, because we have sinned against Him. And He cannot have fellowship with sin.
But when Jesus comes into our lives and brings with it the forgiveness of sins, we may be called children of God, adopted as His child.
Through that forgiveness we may be pure in heart, made clean. And then there is the promise of the Lord Jesus, to which John refers: they will see God. That is the highest bliss: to see God as He is, in glory and majesty.
We can look forward to that. It’s not there yet, but it will come. However, those who do not believe in Him will never be able to see Him, they will perish forever. Therefore, in view of this coming glory, there is an urgent cry to all of us: believe on the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved!
