Read: Revelation 21:1-6
Kiboki’s son, one of our translators, passed away. It’s a shock. I knew that boy. He had epilepsy. A few days ago he had a cerebral haemorrhage and died soon after that. He was buried the day we returned from a trip.
The next day we go straight to Kiboki’s house. Jeremiah’s grave is just next to the house. There are some flowers, two spades are next to the grave. There is still a lot of family. All brothers, uncles and aunts have come to his funeral and will stay for several days to comfort and encourage the family.
We stay for about an hour and a half and then leave.
Jeremiah’s grandmother shakes my hand a thousand times and says, “He sleeps until Jesus comes again.”
There are so many kids here who don’t grow old. Almost every family loses one or more children. People really just expect it.
The great thing is that Kiboki’s family is Christian. Although the loss is heavy, Jeremiah is said to be only sleeping. Awaiting the Resurrection. It’s so encouraging to hear that!”
