1 John 3:1
See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us,
that we would be called children of God; and such we are.
For this reason the world does not know us,
because it did not know Him.
God’s love is incomprehensible to us humans!
God the Lord has developed love for people guilty of death, who have trampled on His heart. He does not want to destroy them, although we deserve it.
But He gives His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
He bears away sin and guilt, and He makes it so that we should be called children of God.
We are not children of God by birth or by nature.
It is only due to the love of God revealed in Christ.
He works faith in us, through His Holy Spirit. And by that faith we may know that we are called children of God.
No, we don’t do that ourselves, but He does that Himself.
That is His judgment on our lives. So that we too might live as His children in the midst of this world.
Let us not then turn away from this holy Gospel, but turn to Him.
Shall we do that?
