Matthew 18:26
So the slave fell to the ground
and prostrated himself before him,
saying, ‘Have patience with me
and I will repay you everything.’
A slave was in debt to his king.
A gigantic amount.
So much that he could never pay it off again.
He begs for mercy. And the miracle happens.
The king lets his heart speak. He takes pity.
He cancels that slave’s entire debt.
Forgive us our debts!
Voltaire once mocked God: Pardonner c’est son métier. Forgiveness is God’s calling. If you talk about guilt, well take that to God and all will be forgiven.
Let’s forget about it. But God never said: Sand over it.
God said, Blood over it. The Blood of My Son.
God forgives. Heartily!
Thanks to Jesus’ sacrifice.
No, God does not forgive to make sinning easy.
Whoever truly believes will say: Each forgiven sin makes the next more difficult.
Why?
Because those who really believe have an eye for what it cost Jesus.
Compare it to a child who says: Father and mother love me and no matter what I do, they will always be my father and mother. They will always love me. So it doesn’t matter what I do.
Such a child is a chatterbox. Such a child has no real love for his parents. He who has been forgiven much, loves God. And he who has been forgiven much, will be forgiving
