2 Chronicles 25:1-2,27-28
¹Amaziah was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
²He did right in the sight of the Lord, yet not with a whole heart.
²⁷From the time that Amaziah turned away from following the Lord they conspired against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish and killed him there.
²⁸Then they brought him on horses and buried him with his fathers in the city of Judah.
We often pay attention to external things.
How is it at your school in your class, or at your work?
Do you pay much attention to each other’s appearance, clothing or brand of shoes?.
You may quickly answer: “Yes, but I know that the appearance is not so important, the inner, how you are, how you think is much more important!”
You will also get to know the friends with whom you talk a lot better than others.
That is how the Lord knows us through and through.
Do we like to talk to Jesus, do we prefer to pour out our whole heart to Him?
This reflects something of our inner self, of our personal relationship with the Lord.
Faith does not remain something general, faith touches your deepest inner self!
▪︎It affects your mind,
▪︎it touches your heart,
▪︎it penetrates your soul.
Then faith will not remain hidden deep in your heart, but it will also radiate clearly from you.
How are you today?
Of the new king Amaziah we unfortunately read: “He did that which was good in the sight of the Lord, but not with a whole heart.”
Outwardly it seemed perfectly fine, Amaziah keeps the law, but his heart is not with the Lord. He becomes proud and thinks he can live without God.
Prayer suggestion
▪︎Pray that you may live close to the Lord, but with all your heart!
