Read: John 11:11-15 and 41-46
When grandma died, Jack asked his mother: “Is grandma sleeping now?”
“Of course not dude,” said his sister suddenly, “grandma died – anyway, grandma will never wake up again.”
Then it was Mother’s turn: “Jack is right,” she said, “Grandma has fallen asleep.
She no longer wakes up with us, but she is now with the Lord Jesus.
And one day, when Jesus returns in the clouds, Grandma will also be there and her body will be a new body – and rise from the grave.”
Indeed, if grandma passed away in faith, you may say: grandma fell asleep.
That sounds very different from ‘dying’.
Christians fall asleep.
That is to say, the terror of death is gone from them.
As we awaken a sleeper, so the Lord awakens His children.
After their death, a wonderful awakening follows on the other side of death, with the Lord Jesus.
Up there, a great multitude of children cheer before God’s throne!
