1 John 2:25
This is the promise which He Himself made to us:
eternal life.
The congregation to whom John is writing is in the storm of temptation.
Deceivers try to pull the church away from the sure foundation upon which the church is built, which is the finished work of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Precisely then it is good to fall back on the promise of God, and to hold on to it.
When we believe in the Lord Jesus we can stand on His promises.
We need not be uncertain about that promise. John promises eternal life to everyone who believes in the Lord Jesus. And that according to a word from the Lord Jesus Himself.
Eternal life is the life associated with God the Eternal One and therefore it can never perish, neither through death nor through the grave.
Christ has acquired it for all who belong to Him. Through Him alone we get back what we lost in paradise.
