1 John 2:18
Children, it is the last hour;
and just as you heard that antichrist is coming,
even now many antichrists have appeared;
from this we know that it is the last hour.
The apostle knows very well that he is writing his letter to a church that lives after Pentecost and is looking forward to the return of Christ.
Wouldn’t the latter have been missing too much in our time? It is not heard much.
The Church, however, firmly believes that He will come again. But the time that remains is also a time of heresy and apostasy.
Even now there are those who teach a different doctrine and who do not proclaim that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. That is a disconsolate doctrine, for then there is no one who can save us from our carnal sins.
But all who may believe know that this is the last hour.
At the second coming of Christ the hours end and eternal glory commences. No more clock and pulse, but eternal life.
