1 John 2:15
Do not love the world
nor the things in the world.
If anyone loves the world,
the love of the Father is not in him.
The world is so attractive to our sinful nature and all that it has and gives.
Everything in the world attracts our affections.
▪︎The greatness of life. – Wanting to be something, wanting to be more than someone else.
▪︎ The lust of the eyes. – Those eyes see so much and the heart desires so much, wealth, money, good.
▪︎ The lust of the flesh. – Our flesh seeks fulfillment of all lusts. That world follows you, naturally, no matter how hypocritical some may camouflage it.
But hear the word of the Lord: Love not the world.
▪︎She lies in evil.
▪︎She passes.
▪︎She can’t atone for your guilt,
▪︎She can’t fill your soul.
▪︎She drags you to eternal destruction.
There must be another love in your heart.
▪︎The love of the Father, the love of the Son, and the love of the Holy Ghost.
▪︎That love is acquired through Him who has overcome the world.
▪︎That love flows from grace in sinner’s hearts, renewing, and saving.
Then we leave the world and our love extends to Him Who is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
To be reconciled to God through Him.
To love forever, not the world, but Him who so loved us.
