1 John 2:14
I have written to you, fathers,
because you know Him
Who has been from the beginning.
I have written to you, young men,
because you are strong,
and the word of God abides in you,
and you have overcome the evil one.
In the congregation of Christ, the young should not be forgotten.
Of course they don’t have as much experience as the older ones, but they count all the same.
Young people are used to being criticized quite often.
Education and correction go hand in hand.
But a compliment from time to time is also necessary.
That’s what John does.
He writes to the youngsters that they are strong.
No, he’s not talking about their muscle strength, but about their faith.
They stand strong by the power of the Holy Ghost.
And when they hear the biblical message, it’s not “in one ear and out the other.” On the contrary, it remains in them. They take it seriously. And that has a positive effect.
They have conquered the evil one.
The devil doesn’t stand a chance with these youngsters.
The temptations with which he tries to please them bounce off the shield of their faith.
Elderly people, do we also let the younger ones know that we appreciate them?
They need that!
