1 John 2:8
On the other hand,
I am writing a new commandment to you,
which is true in Him and in you,
because the darkness is passing away
and the true Light is already shining.
There may be some ideals in our lives that we pursue with all our strength.
What are you and I not busy with today?
But what could be better, more desirable, than this one: to be renewed in the image of Jesus, the Christ?
Paul pursued that he might seize by which he had been seized by Jesus.
That is what is meant in our text.
What was true in Christ, was true, and must also be true in you.
What was true in Christ?
His love, His self-denial.
Where He seizes you in His grace, some of it enters you also.
Isn’t it rich to radiate something from Him?
That’s from Him, by the working of His Spirit.
He works it out in a lifetime.
That may bring us to our knees.
And pray “That I may look like you”.
