1 John 2:2
And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins;
and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.
The whole world in sight.
John does not limit the Atonement to a small group of people. His view is much broader. The whole world counts with him. In this he is a true follower of the Christ.
To the farthest corners of the world the Gospel must ring: “He is the propitiation for our sins.” Our sins are already like a mountain, let alone the sins of the whole world.
That’s a mountain range.
Who can undo that?
There is only One Who can do that: Jesus, the Christ, the Righteous.
His blood is deeper than the deepest sea. The mountains of sin of all the world can disappear in it.
What a wide Gospel.
We must not deprive anyone of that.
The whole world needs to hear it!
But, does the world want to hear that message?
More and more doors are closing to the Gospel.
The message of reconciliation is not popular.
But still, we have a mighty God.
Through His Word and Spirit He opens closed doors and hearts.
He makes way for the Gospel and wants to involve people in it.
