1 John 2:2
And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins;
and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.
The promise in our text has an address.
John speaks of ours. That is himself and his fellow apostles, who with him, were ear and eye witnesses of Jesus’ death and resurrection.
Moreover, it applies to all who believe in Him throughout the Word.
The cleansing of all sin applies to them.
Remission, renewal by the Spirit, and restoration of the image of God.
The risen, the Christ, here by His Spirit, spreads out His arms wide.
God so loved the world…that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Yes, you may come as a beggar at the foot of the cross. Whosoever cometh to Him, He will in no way be cast out.
Here lies a great commission for the work of evangelism and for missions. Just shout it out to all the places and in all the streets.
▪︎There is forgiveness
▪︎There is an open way to the Father
