1 John 2:1
My little children,
I am writing these things to you
so that you may not sin.
And if anyone sins,
we have an Advocate with the Father,
Jesus Christ the righteous
Devotional
Our God is a holy God, who cannot tolerate sin.
We, on the other hand, are sinners, unholy in ourselves, and therefore we cannot approach God from within ourselves. After all, we have earned the wrath of God.
But now there is Jesus, the Christ, Who is here called an Advocate.
He intercedes for us before the Father.
We cannot draw near to Him. Jesus does. He is the Righteous One.
He intervenes for our good.
He pleads with the Father based on His own finished work, whereupon the Father cannot, but grant mercy to guilty sinners.
Let us then go in faith to the Lord Jesus, the Christ, and entrust ourselves to Him.
Whoever does that never does it in vain.
Then there may be life through Him and on the basis of His finished work.
A thousand times o Lord, be thanks and glory to you for this.
