1 John 1:10
If we say that we have not sinned,
we make Him a liar
and His word is not in us.
When a teacher at school scolds a child in class, the answer is usually, “I didn’t do anything!”
From childhood we do not like to be caught, and we try to crawl out from under the accusation.
The first man Adam has already started with that.
He shifted his sin onto the other.
Johannes writes that, all things considered, this is very brutal.
The Lord God leaves no doubt about what He thinks of us.
He sent prophets with the message, “Thou art that man, that sinner.”
He sent His Son with the same message, and He sent His apostles preaching, “Thou standest guilty before thy God.”
And that word also sounds to you and me.
No one can say “I didn’t know”.
The Word makes us all guilty before the Lord.
Then don’t make Him a liar by making yourself clean.
He also invites people today to tell Him honestly how we are doing.
