1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins,
He is faithful and righteous
to forgive us our sins
and to cleanse us
from all unrighteousness.
What is your greatest sorrow?
Can I tell you mine honestly?
That I am a sinner.
That I always sin, even in my best works.
That’s my biggest sadness
Are you doing what this text says, confessing your sins?
▪︎ When you know your sins and confess them,
▪︎ When you see how serious the violations are,
▪︎ When you really realize how much Jesus suffered for you, to set you free.
Then it will break your heart.
I cannot confess my guilt with dry eyes.
And I think that when you really see and understand, how terrible even the slightest transgression of God’s law really is, you cannot do anything else, but go to your Lord with tears in your eyes and a broken heart.
If you can utter your confession without any sense of sincere remorse, like a verse, it’s no more than lip service.
If you want to know what confession is, then listen to David,
▪︎”For I feel the greatness of my evil,” and in another place,
▪︎”I am troubled because of my sin.”
Sin dishonors God, sin crucifies Christ.
If that is seen and believed, then there is nothing worse than your sin.
Confess them before the Lord. Pour out your heart to Him.
He is faithful to forgive them.
This He has promised, and He keeps His Word: Though your sins be as scarlet, I will make them white as wool.
He is also righteous. For He has laid all your sins on His Own dear Son.
In Him His wrath is quenched, His justice satisfied.
Now you may throw yourself like the prodigal son into the arms of the Father, and you will find that He kisses you and assures you of His unspeakable love.
