1 John 1:7
but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light,
we have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
Have we ever stopped to consider the cross of Calvary, delving into that mystery of love which has encompassed this sinful earth?
Then everything, everything must seem to us worthless and meaningless, in the face of that one great fact for the world and for each person’s personal life, as far as we have taken it: “He died for us.”
Since that stupendous event took place, for which the sunlight shrouded itself, every one who fled wounded, defeated, and broken to the cross, found peace for his soul, the liberation of his bound personality. For our sin was nailed to the cross to which the Son of God gave His life.
- Have we already come to the experience and to the acknowledgment that we need purification from sin, and that we cannot redeem ourselves?
- Have we already fled to the sacred silence of Golgotha?
- Do we already know that the sacrifice made there was also made for us?
If we say ‘yes’ to this, then our life must bear witness to it.
Then it must be manifest in the light of our eyes, the stamp of peace on our countenance, the meekness of our word, that we have come to know that supreme and only comfort.
