1 John 1:7
but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light,
we have fellowship with one another,
and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.
Do you ever feel dirty?
Your sin makes you indescribably dirty in God’s sight.
His eyes are too pure to behold iniquity.
And we? We have been like sin itself, since our fall in Adam.
Even our best works are stained with sin. That is why the apostle John rightly says in this chapter: “If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar.”
▪︎ If we come to see ourselves in any way, as God sees us.
▪︎ If His Holy Spirit illumines our eye and illuminates our hearts and lives,
▪︎ Then we understand that David was not exaggerating when he said that his soul was quite leprous.
▪︎Then we understand Isaiah, who cried out, “Woe is me, I am perishing.”
▪︎Then the words of the psalmist will also interpret the experience of our hearts: “If thou, Lord, see iniquity, who shall stand?”
But.., there is a means to wash away all your filthy sins.
Not your tears,
not your remorse,
nothing of you, in you, or to you.
Only the Blood of Jesus Christ cleanses you.
