1 John 1:5
This is the message we have heard from Him
and announce to you, that God is Light,
and in Him there is no darkness at all.
It can be terribly dark around you.
▪︎In general; in world affairs there is always the threat of war and violence.
▪︎In your personal life, the worries and troubles of existence.
- The message that your sickness can’t get healed anymore.
- Your child tells of a broken marriage, and so on.
What a darkness!
Often, consciously or unconsciously, we also blame the Lord God for this.
John, summarizing the gospel at the beginning of his letter, says: “Remember, that darkness is not from God! He is Light.” After all, the very first thing God did was to make light.
Darkness came into this world because of the sin of us humans. “We have loved the darkness rather than the light.” All misery is our own fault.
About one thing John cannot stop preaching and writing: That, from the focus of Golgotha’s cross, even in that dark world, there is light again.
