1 John 1:2
and the life was manifested,
and we have seen and testify
and proclaim to you the eternal life,
which was with the Father
and was manifested to us
John testifies of the eternal Life, which was with the Father.
That eternal Life, that is Jesus.
We cannot imagine what eternal life is. We are constantly dealing with life that is temporary. Sickness and death are the order of the day. We are constantly reminded that our lives are fleeting.
Jesus is Eternal Life.
But He is not only that, He also gives it.
He says that Himself, “He that believeth in Me hath eternal life.”
Even death can’t undo that.
John wants to testify of that Life, because He personally met the risen Savior.
Jesus is proof that life conquers.
Witnessing to that eternal Life has a purpose for John: “That your joy may be full” (1 John 1:4).
Eternal life and joy belong together.
Then let us sing with joy: “Jesus lives and we live with Him!”
