Matthew 15:27
But she said, “Yes, Lord;
but even the dogs feed on the crumbs
which fall from their masters’ table.”
The Canaanite woman was driven out to the Lord in the distress of her life.
The Lord had spoken to her that it was not becoming to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs. Then the Canaanite woman does not get angry and offended. She humbly agrees that she is a dog. “And she said, Yes, Lord.” She may confess her unworthiness from a broken heart.
Do you understand her words?
Have you been taught about your own unworthiness? But now the Canaanite woman may lay hold of the Lord in His own words.
With one hand the woman had been repelled, as it were, but with the other she was drawn.
She begs to receive some crumbs. And she receives them too.
She gets her wish. Her daughter was made well from that hour.
Have you been allowed to lay hold of the Lord in His Own Word as an unworthy person? Do you know anything about that faith of the Canaanite woman?
Then we find here an encouragement for such. It will last forever for them.
