Matthew 11:3 KJV
And said unto him,
Art thou he that should come,
or do we look for another?
Devotional
When things go far from what we expected.
When we receive a very different answer on our prayer than what we hoped for.
Then the doubt can just strike sometimes.
Sometimes things turn out differently because we have talked ourselves into expectations that have no ground in God’s word. Especially for people who follow the “prosperity gospel” the disappointment can sometimes be very great, because they had put their trust in incorrect statements and explanations by people who call themselves ministers, but do not know the scriptures themselves.
There are people who do not (want to) look to God’s Christ, Who still goes His hidden way through the world, and Who perhaps, much sooner than many think, will come back.
He will return completely unexpected for many, because they do not recognize the signs of the times.
There are those who look only to their pastors or ministers, but do not look to the Christ. And as a result they begin to hesitate, to doubt, to become bitter, or even come to disbelief.
If doubt should ever overtake you, do not take it to wise men or scholars, but take it to Jesus! He alone can give you clarity and certainty.
And when by God’s grace you are established (again) in the faith, let your highest aim be, to bring other doubting or wandering hearts to Jesus by word and deed.
For verily, He is the One who was to come, the Renewer and Fulfiller of heart and life.
