Matthew 11:3 KJV
And said unto him,
Art thou he that should come,
or do we look for another?
Devotional
Is that a question from John the Baptist?
Is that a question from the herald who had gone before the King?
Does John not see it anymore, now he is in prison?
Or does he want to teach his disciples who have begun to doubt?
The Bible doesn’t clarify that, and frankly, it doesn’t matter.
What we know is that he sends two of his disciples to the Lord Jesus with the question: Are you the One that should come, or are you not?
Whoever doubted here is irrelevant.
- What is important is that we can learn from this verse where we can go with our doubts.
- What is important is that we can learn from this verses that Jesus really is the Messiah.
What comfort lies in these few verses for those with afflictions in their faith!
Sometimes things go so very differently than we expected or thought.
We thought we had it all clear, but it goes in a completely different direction.
Doubt can then just strike.
But just as in this story, faith, however contested it may be, has enough on the Word.
