Matthew 10:15 KJV
Verily I say unto you,
It shall be more tolerable
for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha
in the day of judgment,
than for that city.
Devotional
It is a terrible thing when people do not want to hear the word of God’s servants.
Yet this has been the nature of every man since man fell into sin.
In Adam we have all become rejecters of the Word of God.
If we stay like this, and don’t change, don’t repent, a terrible judgment awaits us. A heavier judgment than the judgment of Sodom and Gomorrah.
These cities were examples of terrible wickedness and transgression of the law. In an extraordinary way the wrath of God has come upon those cities.
But whoever has been allowed and able to hear the gospel of free grace again and again, but despite all that, everything has continued on a self-chosen path, even further away from God, he will have a harder time in the great judgment day than Sodom and Gomorrah.
Hostile and unbelieving rejection of the Word of God and the preaching of free grace aggravates the judgment.
It’s only grace
▪︎ To be won to the Word of God.
▪︎ To bow under that Word that shows you your guilt.
▪︎ To bow under that Word that also shows you the way of how you can be set free of your sins.
Being allowed to embrace the Word is not human work, but God’s work.
